Population Aging

Around 14.6 per cent of Armenia's population is aged 60 or over, while according to international classification a country's population is considered aged when this indicator exceeds 12 per cent. According to UN estimates, this indicator will reach approximately 20 per cent in 2024.

The reasons for aging population in Armenia are the migration of youth, low fertility and increased life expectancy.
